Oasis Childcare Centre has been operating in Ludgvan for over 20 years and is ranked by Ofsted as an outstanding provider of early years education. More than 200 children currently attend the Ludgvan Centre each week and a significant number of local families are on the waiting list. Oasis were delighted to have been approached to take over the team and the building at Marazion Childcare in the grounds of Marazion School on the 1st of November 2018, offering opportunities to provide high quality childcare to a wider sector of the local community.

Parents are delighted to have Ofsted endorse what they know to be the quality care their children receive at Oasis Childcare Centre in Ludgvan. The outstanding judgement was given by Ofsted in all categories. Particularly praised are the strong leadership, high professionalism of staff, highly effective partnerships with parents and each child being treated as an individual. Parents spoke of the exceptional facilities and wide range of learning opportunities with amazing high standards but still with a ‘home to home’ environment.. One parent said, ‘The staff have built a platform from which my child is able to shine.’

 

The inspector observed activities in the playrooms and outdoors, which the children access at all times. She interviewed staff, parents and committee. The policies, procedures, planning, children’s records and staff qualifications all came under scrutiny. Safe recruitment procedures, safeguarding and special needs provision did not escape Ofsted’s scope.

 

Chair of the Management Committee said, “Oasis offers excellent care for children thanks to a dedicated team. All staff and the committee came in for praise from Ofsted. We are especially blessed with an exceptional leader in Lorna who is always there for the children, their families and the staff. Nothing is too much trouble.”

 

The report highlighted how parents are involved in the settling in process, informed about each day’s activities and attend consultation events. The staff quickly establish each child’s starting point and work with families and other professionals in order to support every child skilfully. The use of open questioning and praise encourage children to strive to give of their best from interacting with stories to tackling the scrambling net.

We are all delighted with our OUTSTANDING and would like to say a big thank you to all of our parents, extended family members, committee and volunteers for their support in helping us to achieve and provide a very special centre.’’

 

One thing Oasis is not good at is standing still. Plans for the future include building on outdoor learning opportunities, continue working in partnership with parents to develop their understanding of E-Safety, offering outreach support and training to other providers and becoming even more involved in community projects.
