Responsible for Leadership & Management and Pupil Premium

Zoë is the General Manager of the Minack Theatre.  Zoë also works as a freelance musician performing and teaching double bass and trumpet at schools in Truro and for Cornwall Learning Music.  Zoë joined the committee as she feels that it is important for parents to be involved in the management of Oasis, supporting the staff to deliver the best possible childcare for all our children.

In her spare time Zoë enjoys the theatre, reading, music and running.

Responsible for Monitoring Finance

Sarah is an Administrator and has experience in Bookkeeping and Accounts.  She has an Association of Accounting Technicians level 4 Diploma.  Sarah has been supporting Oasis since 2013 and has previously worked as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant.

In her spare time Sarah enjoys reading and travelling.  She likes spending time with her family and friends at the weekend and is interested in IT.

Linda Taylor

Committee Member

Responsible for Transition

Linda has been a valued volunteer at Oasis since 2010, generously giving her time to support children, staff and families. Through helping on trips and spending time within the setting, she has built meaningful relationships and seen first-hand the positive impact Oasis has on the local community.

Inspired by the warmth, care and play-based learning that underpin the setting, Linda was delighted to become a Trustee. She is passionate about supporting Oasis in its mission to provide a nurturing environment where children can thrive and families feel welcomed and supported.

Outside of her Trustee role, Linda enjoys walking, knitting and spending quality time with her husband, three children, four grandchildren, and family and friends.

Caroline Peers

Responsible for Special Educational Needs and Transition

Caroline is a retired Social Worker who played a key role in establishing the Sure Start programmes across Cornwall, initially managing the service for Hayle and St Ives before overseeing provision across Penwith. During this time, she successfully secured the funding for the construction of the Oasis Childcare Centre and was closely involved in every stage of its design and development.

Caroline continues to support children's education as Chair of Governors at Marazion School and as a Governor at Humphry Davy School. With a lifelong passion for helping children and young people achieve their potential, she is delighted to continue supporting Oasis as a Trustee, helping to ensure it remains a valued part of the local community for generations to come.

Lorna Trudgeon

Senior Centre Manager

Designated Safeguarding Lead and Prevent Lead

Lorna is the Senior Manager and Lead Practitioner at Oasis, bringing over two decades of experience supporting children and families across all age groups. She holds a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education, a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies, a Playwork Diploma and Early Years Teacher Status.

Having worked at Oasis since 2001 and previously managed Ludgvan Community Centre, Lorna is passionate about providing high-quality early years education and care. She is committed to building strong partnerships with families, professionals and the wider community to ensure every child has the best possible start in life. Her previous service on Ludgvan Parish Council has further strengthened her appreciation of the important role community plays in supporting children and families.

Outside of work, Lorna enjoys spending quality time with her family, watching her son play a variety of sports and exploring Cornwall's beautiful coastal paths.

Richard Sargeant

Responsible for Partnerships with Parents, Carers and Partner Professionals

Richard is a retired veterinary surgeon and former Chairman of Ludgvan Parish Council, bringing a wealth of experience in community leadership and local engagement. Through his long-standing involvement within the parish, he has developed a strong understanding of the importance of supporting local families and organisations.

He is proud to support the organisation in providing a welcoming environment where children and families can thrive, while ensuring Oasis continues to play an important role at the heart of the local area.

Outside of his Trustee role, Richard enjoys music, art and exploring local history.

Responsible for Learning & Development

Jo is the Head of Teaching and Learning at Ludgvan School, where she also teaches Year 6. Having been part of the school community for over seven years, she is passionate about supporting children throughout their educational journey.

As a Trustee, Jo is committed to strengthening the partnership between Oasis and Ludgvan School, helping to ensure a smooth and positive transition for children and their families as they move from early years into primary education. As a parent of three children who have attended Oasis, she has a personal understanding of the important role the setting plays within the local community and is proud to support its continued success.

Outside of her Trustee role, Jo enjoys running with her dog, skiing, snowboarding and spending time with her family and friends.

Mark Fletcher

Responsible for Safeguarding and Learning & Development

Mark is a Primary School Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children's learning and development. As a parent of two children who both attended Oasis, he has seen first-hand the positive impact the setting has on children and families.

As a Trustee, Mark is committed to supporting Oasis in providing the highest quality early years education and care for local families. He is particularly interested in strengthening the links between early years and primary education, while helping Oasis continue to play a valued role within the local community.

Outside of his Trustee role, Mark enjoys surfing, swimming and playing hockey. He also loves spending time outdoors with his family, exploring Cornwall's beaches and woodlands, and is a keen musician who enjoys singing with his children.

Juliette George

Senior Deputy Manager

-

Juliette is the Senior Deputy Manager and Nursery Supervisor at Oasis, bringing a wealth of experience across the toddler, pre-school and kids' club age groups. She holds a CACHE Level 4 qualification in Childcare and Education and returned to Oasis in 2009 after taking time out to be with her family.

Juliette is passionate about creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel happy, secure and supported to reach their full potential. As Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Prevent Lead, she plays a key role in promoting children's wellbeing and ensuring the highest standards of care across the setting.

Outside of work, Juliette enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family.

Laura Richards

Laura is a Civil Servant with extensive experience supporting families from a wide range of backgrounds. Prior to this, she spent over ten years working at Oasis, a role she describes as her greatest passion and one that continues to hold a special place in her heart.

Having been both a member of staff and a parent, with all of her children attending Oasis, Laura has a deep understanding of the important role the organisation plays within the local community. She is passionate about helping ensure the organisation continues to make a lasting, positive impact for generations to come.

Outside of her Trustee role, Laura enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the outdoors on adventure walks, and making the most of Cornwall's beaches.

Steve Jenkin

Steve is a Systems Operations Manager at FibreCRM, a Redruth-based software company, and brings over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. As both a parent and Trustee, Steve is passionate about giving back to the Oasis community that has played such an important role in his family's life.

Having experienced first-hand the exceptional care, support and dedication shown by the Oasis team, Steve was inspired to become a Trustee to help strengthen the organisation and support its staff. He is committed to ensuring Oasis continues to provide a nurturing, inclusive environment where children and families feel valued and supported, while maintaining strong links with the local community.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys playing football, cycling and spending quality time with his family.

Katherine Hall

Katherine is a valued member of the Statutory SEND Team at Cornwall Council, where she supports children and families through the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process. Her journey with Oasis began as a parent before she later joined the staff team, giving her a unique understanding of the organisation from both family and professional perspectives.

As a Trustee, Katherine is passionate about championing inclusion and ensuring every child, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), has the opportunity to reach their full potential. She is committed to supporting Oasis in strengthening its role within the local community and providing the very best outcomes for children and their families.

Outside of her professional life, Katherine enjoys spending time with her family, whether by the sea or sailing on it.

David Teasdale

David is passionate about supporting children, young people and families to thrive within their communities. With a background in education, community development and governance, he has spent much of his career building partnerships and creating opportunities that benefit local people.

As a Trustee, David is pleased to support Oasis in providing a safe, welcoming environment where children can grow in confidence and families feel supported. Having experienced Oasis first-hand through his own children's attendance at the wraparound provision, he has seen the positive difference the organisation makes to family life.

With strong links to Ludgvan School and Ludgvan Community Centre, David is proud to contribute to Oasis' continued role at the heart of the local community, helping children and families to flourish.
